Earlier this Mid-Autumn Festival, the SHUNSTONE team came together for one of Xiamen’s most distinctive local traditions: Bo Bing.
For many people outside Fujian, Mid-Autumn Festival is associated with mooncakes, family gatherings and the full moon.
In Xiamen, there is another tradition that immediately feels like Mid-Autumn:
the sound of dice rolling inside a bowl.
That tradition is called Bo Bing.
Earlier this Mid-Autumn Festival, our SHUNSTONE team gathered together to celebrate, play, laugh and see who would take home the biggest prizes.
What Is Bo Bing?
Bo Bing is a traditional Mid-Autumn dice game closely associated with Xiamen and southern Fujian.
Players take turns rolling six dice into a bowl, with different combinations corresponding to different prize levels.
The most anticipated result is known as:
Zhuangyuan — the top prize level.
For people who live and work in Xiamen, Bo Bing is more than just a game. It is part of the atmosphere of Mid-Autumn Festival.
During this season, the sound of dice in bowls can be heard in companies, families, restaurants and community gatherings across the city.
For our team, it has also become a familiar annual tradition.

Of course, prizes are part of the fun.
This year, we prepared a wide range of gifts for the team.
But the part that matters most is not who takes home the biggest box.
